PPZ story - how it all began
I have been breeding dogs for over 20 years. So far I have been lucky, and I have not been in a situation where the mother would not have been able to nurse her puppies at all. I have sometimes helped individual puppies with a baby bottle. Quite often, however, there are situations where the mother, for one reason or another, is unable to nurse her puppies at some point during the first two-three weeks from birth.
The saddest scenario is that the mother dies from complications of c-section for example. Less dramatic situations can be a delay in the mother's lactation, mastitis, or just something as natural as a large number of puppies. If a foster mother is not found, the breeder has to help the puppies by feeding them the milk substitute with a baby bottle. Imagine a litter of 8+ puppies, i.e. 8+ baby bottles. A breeder has two hands and at best she/he gets a few people to help her/him. Newborn puppies must be fed every 2 hours, that is, when you are done with the last ones, you already have to start from the beginning again.
This is where the idea started! Of course, there are already puppy feeders on the market, but I think there was room for improvement. The product development has gone through many stages and it took a good year before the product was brought to the point where it met my own criteria in terms of functionality. At first, I played around with plastic boxes at home and placed pacifiers in them. Then we drew a picture and printed a few 3D models. In all phases, I tested the models with my own puppies, which have therefore played a big role in product development. However, the 3D model was not yet in moldable form, so it had to be worked on a bit, and the future manufacturer of the product, located in Turku, Finland, has been a big help here. The Patent and Registration Board has granted the product utility model protection and the trademark CubMug® has also been registered during the past year.
Finally we were at the point where a reasonable plan was needed to start manufacturing the product and bring it to the market, and that's how Premium Pet Zone Oy was born. The company's operations will focus on sales through the online store. The online store is designed mainly for the needs of pet breeders and puppies during the first months. If you have a product that you would like to sell in the online store, I will gladly accept ideas! I'm sure I won't be able to implement everything right away, but over time the selection is meant to be expanded to a more versatile one.
